Meet The Bailey Baby Boutique Co

Tell us about your business and who you serve with it?

We are a completely handmade baby and kids apparel and accessories business! We make lots of grow with me clothing to last longer and our specialty waterproof bandana bibs prevent the drool soaking through to the outfit (and the sensitive skin) underneath. We make items for babies and kids, but we really serve moms (and dads) with easy and stylish clothing for their kids to wear!

When and Why did you start your business?

I started the business in May 2018, when my daughter was 5 months old. I had been fed up with the quality of bibs available to me in my local stores, so I called on my background in fashion design and made her some! The bibs turned into matching hats, rompers and grow with me pants and has now evolved into an entire clothing line! I very much feel that I’ve found the piece missing from my life prior to having my daughter!

What was the biggest struggle your business has faced so far? How have you overcome it?

One of my biggest struggles was starting this business on maternity leave, and needing to make a very big decision (only 6 months into my business) whether I would go back to my retail job or try and run my new business full time! There were lots of factors in the decision (including the cost of childcare!) but the bottom line was could I afford to jump in? Luckily my husband and family have been amazing, and I’ve taken on an investor to continue running my business until I can fully support my family!

What are you most excited about for the future of your business? What is one of your companies biggest goals?

I’m very excited about launching our summer collection this year, as I’ve hand drawn a lot of our fabrics we’ll be launching! Going forward I’m hoping to design at least 50% of the fabrics we offer. I love this because it truly sets us apart and I get to embrace the creativity of designing my own fabrics. One of our biggest goals (and this is my huge long term goal) is to grow the business to be a recognizable name across Canada and to become one of Canada’s largest handmade brands!
